Congregation Beth Or, founded in 1960 by ten families,
moved into its home in the spring of 1969. This inviting, one-story architect-designed
brick structure is indeed a "House of Light" with large expanses
of glass facing a serene, landscaped inner courtyard. Despite its convenient
location near the tri-state interchange, our setting is
secluded and tranquil -- set back on 6 ½ acres of open space and
bordered by high foliage on three sides. The site has ample off-street
parking and a children's playground. In fall, ducks and geese alight
on our spacious front lawn, and the open roof of our sukkah - available
for members' use throughout Sukkot --
bows from the weight of the greens and holiday decorations lovingly placed
there.

Our congregational life centers on two gathering spaces, one large and
the other more intimate, used for services and other events. High beamed
ceilings, brick-and-wood interiors, plants, and works of contemporary
art add to the warmth of these spaces. Off the foyer are the rabbi's
study, administrative office, memorial alcove, and a handsomely appointed
library. The library, furnished with comfortable reading table and chairs,
offers a selection of books, magazines, and audiovisual materials on Judaism
for both adults and children.
In a separate wing are eight cheerful, brightly painted classrooms and
a kitchen equipped for catered events. Our facilities are available for
large receptions or for dinners seating up to 200 people or for ongoing
activities. For rental information, call (847) 945-0477or email admin@bethor.com.
